Black Widow Deserved More

It’s about dang time. Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson), has been a vital part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2010 so it’s absolutely time that she gets her own movie. If you haven’t been keeping up with the MCU, Natasha is the human that absolutely kicks butt on the Avengers team. She has made countless sacrifices to help her friends and *Spoiler Alert* this girl threw herself off of a cliff to save the Avengers and the entire world, so the least we can do is give her a movie of her own. Natasha got her start in Iron Man 2 (2010) so she’s definitely put in the time and dedication it takes to have a standalone. As an audience, we have watched her grow from just a stupidly attractive employee of Tony Stark to a full-on hero that fights aliens on the daily. She may not have any powers, but she makes up for it in character. Natasha Romanoff was there for her friends until the very end, never complained about the hand she was dealt, and always stood for what she believed in even when others didn’t. It also helps
that she has some serious moves and manipulation skills. As far as humans go, she seems pretty
powerful. I don’t even understand why it took so long for her to receive her own movie because
she earned it years ago.

Now, let’s get into the nitty gritty and talk about her final scene in Avengers Endgame. If you didn’t think she deserved that film yet, you definitely will after seeing that portion of the movie. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, I cannot stress enough that I will ruin it for you in about five seconds. Anyway, Natasha Romanoff actually threw herself off a cliff because she didn’t want her best friend to have to do it. That is the (second) most heartbreaking scene of that movie. She gave up everything just to let someone else survive and have the life she thought they deserved. Anyone willing to do that absolutely deserves that standalone. We watched her finish her character arc in the most fantastic way — by making the ultimate sacrifice.

Since we’ve covered how unbelievably deserving Natasha Romanoff is, let’s compare it to the rest of the Avengers team. Thor? Yeah, he’s pretty cool and his latest film was the best, so great character arc. Captain America? Absolutely necessary. Iron Man? Started the entire series and deserves the whole world. Hawkeye? Eh, maybe. Hulk? We won’t talk about his standalone. Most of the team has their own movies, as long as they’re superhuman to some degree. I’m sensing some prejudice. If you’re not angry, you should definitely be angry because you’re human, too.

If we move outside of the OG Avengers, most of the rest of the team has movies, too. Yeah, I’m still mad. Captain Marvel just entered the MCU and she got a movie before Natasha. Don’t get me wrong, Captain Marvel is amazing in her own right, but it’s just not right for her to get the spotlight before our very own Black Widow. This is an outrage if you ask me. But if you don’t agree, go ahead and happily wait for the new movie set to come out in 2020 while I brood in the corner over the injustice that has been served to my girl.
