The WLFC top song pick this week is “Always Ascending” by Franz Ferdinand. Franz Ferdinand is a Scottish indie rock band that has been on the music scene for over a decade. “Always Ascending” is the title track off their fifth studio album Always Ascending. This is the first time Franz Ferdinand has released a full album in nearly five years.
The style of the song “Always Ascending” is nothing new to Franz Ferdinand. This song has all the classical styles of the indie rock group; it is punk-funk and classic in nature. While sticking to a classic sound, it captures several futuristic vibes.
Franz Ferdinand is similar to groups such as the Arctic Monkeys, The Stokes, The Killers, and FFS. If you enjoy listening to upbeat music with deep meaning, I highly recommend checking this group out.
