2023 University of Finday Math Day – Afternoon Session

Every year we invite a reputed mathematician to come and present mathematical ideas in an entertaining way. On that day, all math classes will be cancelled and almost all our undergraduate students and local high school students will attend. The speaker will give two talks which are accessible to non- math majors. The first talk is from 10:00-10:50 a.m. and the second one is from 1:00-1:50 p.m. in Winebrenner.

Our speaker this year is Dr. Pam Warton. We all know Pam. She served UF number of years in various positions. She was the math department chair and inspired everyone in math department through her leadership and approachability. She won numerous awards for her teaching and contributions towards mathematics. She is the recipient of Distinguishing teaching award of mathematics of Ohio MAA and UF’s David Allen Award for Holistic Teaching Excellence. Though she retired officially last year she couldn’t retire from mathematics and teaching. So, she is coming to share her love of mathematics and in particular Game Theory. Attached is the Math Day flier which contains Math Day info for your perusal.

We are excited to have the opportunity to see Dr. Pam Warton. We would like as many students as possible to benefit from this. Please mark your calendar for March 15th and join us in celebrating mathematics.

2023 College of Business Innovation Competition

Hosted by the BRITE Center in the University of Findlay College of Business (COB), the Innovation Competition provides an opportunity for students to learn more about innovation and entrepreneurship through the development of an idea, creation of a business plan, and delivery of a final presentation.

The competition will host three divisions – green initiative, innovative business, and high school – to ensure creative ideas and provide opportunities that reflect our students’ interests. The competition is open to all University of Findlay full-time, part-time, and degree-completion undergraduate students, as well as high school students who would like to learn more about the business program at the University of Findlay. The competition is open to individuals or teams of four or less.

College Entries:

1st place – $1500
2nd place – $1000
3rd place – $500

High School Entries:

1st place – $500
2nd place – $400
3rd place – $300
4th place- $200
5th place- $100

The finals of the Innovation Competition will be held on the evening of March 14, 2023, in the Winebrenner, TLB Auditorium.

Alyson Stover MOT, JD, OTR/L, BCP is an associate professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Pittsburgh. She obtained her Juris Doctorate in law with a post-graduate certificate in health law from the University of Pittsburgh. Her areas of practice expertise include pediatrics, trauma-informed occupational therapy, and holistic approaches to substance use disorder. Additionally, Dr. Stover is one of only 20 individuals in Pennsylvania holding AOTA Board Certification in Pediatrics. She owns a private outpatient pediatric practice north of Pittsburgh and co-founded a non-profit organization that uses occupation to address community, societal and population needs. She has served as PI and Co-PI on various nationally and state-funded research projects involving SBIRT-Plus development and training, trauma-informed occupational therapy for the intervention of children who have experienced sexual trauma, and the use of occupational therapy in the treatment of substance misuse. Dr. Stover’s interests include using occupational therapy as a powerful driving force for larger health care change, advancing occupational therapy’s national and global relevance, and occupational therapy’s role as a leader in policy development and implementation. Her clinical passion is in access to care for underserved and underrepresented populations. Dr. Stover commenced her position as President of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) on July 1, 2022.
