2023 University of Finday Math Day – Afternoon Session

Every year we invite a reputed mathematician to come and present mathematical ideas in an entertaining way. On that day, all math classes will be cancelled and almost all our undergraduate students and local high school students will attend. The speaker will give two talks which are accessible to non- math majors. The first talk is from 10:00-10:50 a.m. and the second one is from 1:00-1:50 p.m. in Winebrenner.

Our speaker this year is Dr. Pam Warton. We all know Pam. She served UF number of years in various positions. She was the math department chair and inspired everyone in math department through her leadership and approachability. She won numerous awards for her teaching and contributions towards mathematics. She is the recipient of Distinguishing teaching award of mathematics of Ohio MAA and UF’s David Allen Award for Holistic Teaching Excellence. Though she retired officially last year she couldn’t retire from mathematics and teaching. So, she is coming to share her love of mathematics and in particular Game Theory. Attached is the Math Day flier which contains Math Day info for your perusal.

We are excited to have the opportunity to see Dr. Pam Warton. We would like as many students as possible to benefit from this. Please mark your calendar for March 15th and join us in celebrating mathematics.
