Hancock County has three levels of Snow Emergency, with one being the safest and three being the most dangerous. At Level One, roadways are dangerous with snow, and roads may be icy. Motorists are advised to drive carefully. At Level Two, roads may be very icy, and motorists are advised to drive only if it is necessary. At Level Three, all roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel, and nobody should drive unless there is an emergency. Those who travel during a Level Three warning could be arrested.
University policy states that during a Level One Emergency, classes at UF will continue as planned. At Level Two, individual classes may be canceled if professors cannot travel, and commuters should notify professors if they cannot make it. The university may close for the day at its discretion. In the event of a Level Three Snow Emergency, all on-campus classes will be canceled.
