In Memory of Dr. Robert Postic

Robert Postic, Ph.D., passed away at the age of 66 on April 26, 2026.

A professor of political science at the University of Findlay, Postic was dedicated to teaching political science both in the classroom and in writing, publishing countless academic articles, contributing to Christianity Today, and writing the chapter “Executives, Cabinets, and Bureaucracies” in OpenStax’s Introduction to Political Science.

Postic graduated from Calvin College in 1982 with a Bachelor’s of Arts in political science, followed in 1990 by a Master’s of Arts in theology from Fuller Theological Seminary, and a PhD in Political Science from Wayne State University in 2007. He started teaching at the University of Findlay in 2007. He researched political tolerance and the intersection of religion and politics, and continued writing throughout his career.

Students described Postic as one of the kindest professors they met at UF, a professor who cared about his students and was an engaging speaker. Postic taught various classes in the political science department, including Introduction to Political Science, Comparative Politics, and American Politics.

According to Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, he is survived by his wife, Johnna Postic, and his children, Sara Buddemeyer and Joshua Postic. His first grandchild is expected to be born in October.

A memorial gathering will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, at CHRISTfamily Christian Church in Brownstone Township, Michigan, directly followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m.
