Before he ever set foot in a college classroom, one University of Findlay student was already hooked on court cases and constitutional debates. What started as a childhood curiosity about American history has now shaped his path toward law school. For senior pre-law student Mylin Brown, that childhood fascination has grown into a clear career path.

“I’ve always been a student of the Constitution,” Brown said. “Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been interested in American history and legal history and old court cases. I just knew I wanted to do something that involved the law.”

As a pre-law major, Brown said his experiences at Findlay have confirmed that calling. He credits his professors and advisors, particularly Dr. Buchanan, for helping him feel prepared for what’s next.

“I think all the pre-law professors here do a really great job,” Brown said. “The advisors have given me some really good insight, and I think we have a good plan to get me out of here and into law school.”

Brown plays long snapper for the Oiler football team after playing high school ball at Gahanna High School in central Ohio. Moving away for law school didn’t intimidate him, either. Brown has lived in several states over the past five years and said he’s comfortable adapting to new places.

“The distance isn’t too nerve-wracking for me,” he said. “But law school is really, really hard, I’ve heard, so I’m kind of nervous about getting settled in and getting all my stuff done.”

Despite that, Brown said he’s ready for the challenge ahead and confident that his lifelong curiosity about the law, and the support he’s found at Findlay, will carry him through the next step of his journey.
