High powered sports weekend in store for UF student-athletes

That high energy buzz you sense on the University of Findlay campus is the start of a high-power weekend for UF student-athletes. While No. 12 football gets ready for season two (playoff season), after wrapping up a 10-1 regular season, the basketball teams are off to a strong start as well. AND the volleyball team is making a run in the Great Midwest American Conference tournament this weekend. Here’s a wrap up of some of the action this weekend.

Friday Nov. 21, 9 a.m. Wrestling takes on No. 5 Grand Valley State at Grand Valley in the Laker Duals then matches up with No. 8 St. Cloud State at noon.

Friday Nov. 21, 12 p.m. The home opener for UF women’s basketball (2-0) is a rare mid-day contest with Seton Hill (1-2).

Friday Nov. 21, 7 p.m. The UF volleyball team (23-4) moves to the semi-final match this weekend in the G-MAC tournament where it will square up with Ohio Dominican University (24-5). The winner of that game moves on to the championship game Saturday, Nov. 22. Cedarville is the host of the final two rounds of the G-MAC tournament.

Saturday Nov. 22, 1 p.m. No. 12 Oiler football (10-1) plays in the first round of the NCAA DII playoffs in Super Region III. This is the first time UF will host a playoff game.

Saturday Nov. 22, 5 p.m.No. 23 UF men’s basketball (3-0) host Gannon University (2-0) in Cory. The home opener Wednesday, Nov. 19 was a definitive win over Ferris State, 102-70. On a side note-Ferris State football is ranked No. 1 in the country and is the first seed in Super Region III where UF football is the second seed.
