University of Findlay men’s and women’s basketball split the evening Thursday, Dec. 4 when Thomas More came to town for the first conference game.
The men’s team is now 6-1 on the season, 1-0 in the conference, after beating the Saints 88-7.
The game started hot with back-and-forth lead changes but the Oilers broke away right before half-time. Oiler athletics reports the team shot 52.3 percent from the floor and receiving 47 points from the bench.
Senior Mekhi Elmore finished the night with 15 points, sophomore Steele Meister with 12 points, sophomore Javonte Hill with 11, and senior Jagger Landers with 9.
The men play again Saturday, Dec. 6 at 3 p.m. in Croy against another conference opponent Kentucky Wesleyan (4-3 overall, 0-1 in conference).
The UF women’s team also started the game against the undefeated Saints with back-and-forth play but the last quarter proved too much for the lady Oilers, losing 79–63.
Senior Alyssa Ziehler scored 21 points, freshman Lauryn Auchmuty scored 12, junior Addisyn Freeman had 10, and junior Madison French had 5 points.
The team (3-3 overall, 0-1 in conference) also plays Kentucky Wesleyan (4-2 overall, 1-0 in conference) Saturday, Dec. 6 at 1 p.m. in Croy.
