As I prepare to graduate from the University of Findlay, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey that has brought me to this moment. Over the past two years, I served as the Managing Editor for The Pulse, our university’s student-run publication. This role ranks among the most rewarding experiences of my academic career, allowing me to grow both personally and professionally while contributing to the campus community.
During my tenure at The Pulse, I witnessed firsthand the power of storytelling and the impact of journalism. Our team covered a wide range of topics, from campus events and student achievements to pressing social issues and community news. Each article, interview, and editorial stands as a testament to the dedication and passion of our writers and contributors. Together, we strive to inform, inspire, and engage our readers, fostering a sense of connection and understanding within our university.
Balancing my responsibilities at The Pulse with my academic pursuits presents a challenging yet fulfilling endeavor. I am graduating with a bachelor’s degree in English Equine Studies, complemented by double minors in Business Management and Digital Media.
The diverse academic background equips me with a unique skill set, blending my passion for horses with the strategic and technical knowledge of business and media. The interdisciplinary nature of my education enriches my perspective and prepared me for the multifaceted challenges of the professional world.
Looking back on my time at Findlay, I feel grateful for the opportunities and experiences that shaped me. The Pulse has been more than just a publication; it has been a community, a platform for voices to be heard, and a space for meaningful dialogue. I take pride in the work we accomplished and the stories we shared. Leading such a talented and dedicated team is an honor. I am confident that the Pulse will continue to thrive and evolve in the years to come.
Looking ahead, I feel excited to embark on the next chapter of my journey. The skills and knowledge gained at UF will be invaluable as I pursue a career in the journalism and equine industries. I’m eager to apply my passion for storytelling and my commitment to excellence in new and diverse contexts. While I’ll miss the camaraderie and creativity of the Pulse, I am confident that the lessons learned and the memories made will stay with me forever.
To my fellow students and mentors, thank you for your support, guidance, and friendship. Your encouragement has been a source of strength and inspiration; I am deeply grateful for the impact you have had on my life. As I leave Findlay, I carry with me the values of integrity, perseverance and collaboration that have been instilled in me during my time here.
Farewell, Findlay. Thank you for the memories, the lessons and the opportunities. I look forward to the future with determination, ready to embrace new challenges and make a positive impact in the world.
To the current and future Pulse staff members, happy writing! Seek out the truth with integrity and timeliness.
