Findlay Brewing Company hosts 5k

Findlay Brewing Company maps out a 5k course for participants to run, walk, or job, starting and ending at Findlay Brewing Company on May 3 at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a cost of $35-$50. Whether experienced runners or those seeking fun, participants enjoy a fresh, locally made beer at the finish line.

Brody Gutierrez, a server/bartender at Findlay Brewing Company for two and half years, eagerly anticipates working the 5k for the third time.

“We have been hosting this 5k for four to five years, Gutierrez said. The 5k is a community collaboration that allows us and the partner to donate a pint to all runners included in buying a ticket.”

This year, Findlay Brewing Company partners with Brewery Running Series. Founded in Minneapolis, MN in 2012 by Nate Herrington and Morgan Jappe, Brewery Running Series organizes 5k runs with local breweries, encouraging runners to have fun and enjoy beer.

Findlay Brewing collaborated with various partners, including the Breden Kramer Foundation last year. They incentivized runners with a $50 gift card for chasing down “the beer,” a runner in a beer costume. Registration included a race shirt and a voucher for a free pint.

In 2023, they partnered with Ohio Brewery Running Series, offering participants a free beer, a choice of a collector’s pint glass or seasonal swag item, chances to win prizes, and access to live music, games, goodies, and giveaways.

“Findlay Brewing Company is a very inclusive establishment,” Gutierrez said. “It’s a great time and good experience, while enjoying food and craft beer with it”

For many, the race is less about the finish time and more about the experience.

“I signed up for the 5K because it felt like the perfect mix of things I enjoy, staying active, supporting a local business and being part of the community,” said Miller, a participant in this year’s Findlay Brewing Company 5K. “I’ve always loved the atmosphere at Findlay Brewing, and the idea of combining a scenic run with craft beer just sounded like a great time.”
