With finals week fast approaching, it’s important to find the proper balance of comfort and caffeine to power through long study sessions. Thankfully, the community of Findlay has a variety of great coffee shops and local study spots to help fuel up for finals.
Reading Grounds is a coffee shop and used bookstore located just across Main Street from the University of Findlay, in what was formerly the George House building. They offer a wide variety of coffees and beverages in a cozy environment.
Coffee Amici downtown is a popular choice among students. They have ample seating for both individuals and groups, an extensive drink menu, a rotating selection of baked goods, while offering a student discount.
We Serve Coffee is an innovative coffee shop that donates all of their profits to a rotating selection of local charities. In addition to drinks, they also serve a selection of cafe items, including pastries, soups, and sandwiches.
The Baker’s Cafe offers drinks and a full menu of soups, salads, sandwiches, smoothies, wraps, donuts and baked goods. Their full lunch menu and welcoming atmosphere make The Baker’s Cafe a student favorite, too.
The Baking Company and Bread Kneads serves a variety of tasty drinks, but they’re particularly known for their selection of both sweet and savory baked goods, as well as a selection of sandwiches and quiches.
All of these local gems — along with Jazzman’s and chains like Starbucks, Biggby, and Dunkin — will help fuel a caffeine fix. However, students may thrive in the different environments the shops have to offer.
For a loud, busy environment that provides people-watching, fast-food coffee chains or one of the larger coffee shops, like Coffee Amici or Baker’s Cafe, may be the right choice. Yet, if students thrive in a cozier, quieter environment, smaller shops, like We Serve, provide the right atmosphere. If the right study environment includes taking breaks, Reading Grounds allows students to browse their book selection, or The Baking Company offers lunch options.
According to the ACT test website, “Coffee shops are a great option if you’re looking for some time to study between classes but want to get away from campus.”
