Weekends at UF

While walking around campus on the weekends, one may notice a lack of activity or become bored; however, there are many different options

Walking and running provide both physical and mental health benefits. Take a short walk around campus and view all of the fall colors.

Megan Seidel notes the fall colors around campus during this time of year.

“I really like walks, especially with friends, because it helps take my mind off of studying and whatever else I may be stressing about,” Seidel. “I also love being outside and during the fall and spring. I really enjoy looking at all of the flowers blossoming and the leaves changing.”

Findlay has plenty of trails to offer in varying lengths depending on how far you would like to walk or run. These trails are all less than a twenty-five-minute drive from campus.

Elizabeth Frazier notes the importance of downtime.

“College and work can get incredibly stressful, so the weekends are my time to relax and unwind,” Frazier said. “Sometimes that’s going on walks around town, and other times it’s hanging out with friends and making memories.”

The Backwoods Trail Loop in the Litzenberg Memorial Woods is a mile-long trail through the woods. Oakwood Nature Preserve Loop trail is just over three miles long and does have a view of water. The Findlay Reservoir is a trail around Reservoirs One and Two. This trail is longer as it is six and a half miles from start to finish.
