Spiking into men’s club volleyball

The University of Findlay is spiking into new territory this fall with the launch of its Men’s Club Volleyball team. This addition to UF’s club sports offerings aims to foster enthusiasm for men’s volleyball among students and build a competitive team for the future.

Starting in fall 2024, the club is set to include 15-16 members, with aspirations to expand into an A team and B team as the club grows. The team will meet twice a week for practices, with specific days determined based on player availability. Practices will be held at the FRC’s SRC or MAC side, providing ample space for skill development and team building.

“We have two volunteer coaches, but will be mostly officer and captain led,” Vice President Daegan Hatfield said.

The team will engage in local scrimmages and compete in the Ohio River Valley Division 2 conference, marking their entry into competitive play. Joining the club is free to try out, though there is a $75 fee per semester for those who make the roster.

“The money goes right back into the clubs budget for food, travel, and entrance fee into tournaments,” Hatfield said.

Tryouts for the fall season are scheduled for September, with additional opportunities in late November or early December for the spring season. Even if players do not make the team initially, they may still join practices to enhance their skills for future tryouts.

For those interested in joining, attending tryouts is the first step. For further information on the Men’s Volleyball club students can reach out to Deagan Hatfield by email hatfieldd@findlay.edu or message their Instagram account @UFMensVB.
