Pulse Media Club undergoes revamp

At UF students have plenty of options to get involved on campus. According to the University’s website, there are over 100 hundred clubs and organizations offered to students throughout the year.

One club on campus has been making efforts to get students involved and explore their own creativity. UF’s Pulse Media Club is undergoing a transformation with hopes that students with a passion for digital media will come see what they are all about.

The club combines students involved in the University’s newspaper, radio station, and television network, along with individual content creators across campus. Many of the club’s members are Journalism and Digital Media students, but any majors are welcome.

“Pulse Media is a place where students can have fun with being creative and making content for themselves, or the University too,” Pulse Media Club President Malea Bess said.

Many members of the club have graduated from the University over the past year. So current officers thought this fall would be the perfect time to invite students with fresh ideas to join their team, expressing that digital media skills can be useful in any career.

“We have had a lot of new members who didn’t quite know what the club was, so we’re hoping our revamp will show students the Pulse Media Club can be whatever they want it to be,” Vice President Grant Goodfellow.

The club also plans on being more active on social media and creating content that gets students on campus involved with their work. They are hoping that with these efforts their student creators will gain more exposure and a strong following that they can take with them beyond their years at UF.

Pulse Media Club hopes that students will join to learn more about how digital media is extremely prevalent in today’s world everywhere, and how easy it is to express creativity on campus through various forms of media.

The club also hosts various events throughout the academic year, such as their annual Family Feud competition and mock election, Rock the Mock.

“We already have our Family Feud and Rock the Mock events in the works for the fall semester, but we have also been discussing new events for the spring semester and would love to hear more ideas from new members,” Goodfellow said.

The club meets every other Monday night at 7 p.m. in the Pulse Media Center located in the AMU. Students can also reach out to the club through their website pulse.findlay.edu or their Instagram @ufpulsemedia if they cannot attend meetings or have more questions.
