NBA.com top 10 NBA players going into the 2022-2023 season

By Jeremiah Jackson

As the 2022-2023 NBA preseason kicks off, NBA fans are getting excited for the regular season to start. And with excitement comes a lot of opinions on how the season will unfold, and that’s where we look at NBA.com who released their top 10 NBA players going into the 2022-2023 NBA season.

Looking at this list really amazed me about how some players excelled last year but their ranking on this list doesn’t show.

10

Devin Booker takes the number ten spot. On my top 10 list I place Devin booker as number eleven, so an honorable mention to my top 10 list.

9

At number nine NBA.com has Ja Morant, and this is a tricky one right here because some people believe Ja Morant, even with his early success in his career is not yet a top three-point guard in the NBA so he cannot be top ten.

8

Where the NBA.com list begins to get a bit crazy is at number eight, where they place Kevin Durant, arguable the best scorer of all-time. Kevin Durant is still the best scorer in the NBA. 7-foot tall can do everything on the offensive end, plays a bit of defense on the other end as well. Maybe because Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets got swept in the first round of the playoffs by the Boston Celtics maybe impacted his ranking this year, but I do not think he deserves a number eight spot.

7

At number seven NBA.com places Jayson Tatum, me personally I feel this spot is too high for him because he’s too inconsistent in big time games when you lean on him the most.

6

At number six NBA.com places LeBron James and this is tough because as we’ve seen LeBron cannot carry a team to the Finals as he used to do, let alone the playoffs now.

5

At number five NBA.com places Stephen Curry coming off his Finals MVP performance showing everyone how great he really is. And with the topic of conversation after the Finals last year being is Stephen Curry a top 10 player of all-time, I thought NBA.com would easily place Curry in their top three players but I guess not.

4

At number four NBA.com places Joel Embid who I felt should’ve won the regular season MVP award over Nikola Jokic because he is simply better and more dominant than Nikola Jokic simple as that.

3

At number three there’s Luka Doncic and many people, including myself think very highly of Luka so there’s no surprise that Luka is this high on the list.

2

NBA.com places Nikola Jokic at number two and Jokic is a great player, but I don’t think he was deserving of the number two spot and the regular season MVP.

1

And taking the number one spot for NBA.com top ten is Giannis Antetokounmpo. Should be no surprise to anyone, Giannis has shown his dominance through the league for many years now. And I would even say if Giannis’ teammate Kris Middleton did not get injured last year in the playoffs the Bucks would’ve been back-to-back champions I dare say. And that is NBA.com top 10 NBA players going into the 2022-2023 NBA season.

Here is my top ten list:

  1. Giannis Antetokounmpo
  2. Stephen Curry
  3. Kevin Durant
  4. Luka Doncic
  5. Joel Embid
  6. Nikola Jokic
  7. LeBron James
  8. Jimmy Butler
  9. Kawhi Leonard
  10. Jayson Tatum

Honorable Mention: Devin Booker
