On Saturday, Jan. 25, three touring comedians will be performing at the Marathon Center for Performing Arts in Findlay.

According to the University of Findlay’s website, this will also be the 18th year for the event which is free for students and faculty of UF and $20 for regular tickets.

The event starts at 8 p.m. and features an emcee, a feature act, and a headliner. The website states that “Comedy Jam is one that you want to experience!”

The three comedians booked are featuring comic Flo Hernandez, emcee Shawn Felipe, and headliner Justin Rupple.

According to his website, Felipe is a Hawaiian comedian that is known for his “clever real-life” stories that stretch around the globe as he travels. The biography states he has won awards in Hawaii and San Francisco for his comedy and was a part of the winning team on the Food Network’s The Great Food Truck Race.

Headliner Rupple has the most credits of the three comedians. IMDB.com states that he is best known for his work on How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and The Fate of the Furious.

According to Rupple’s website, he considers himself as an actor, voice actor, and comedian. He was also featured on the Dana Carvey’s First Impressions show according to his Facebook page and his YouTube videos also include him doing impressions.

For some of the students at the University of Findlay, this will be there first time going to a live comedy show. Bo Terrill, a junior at the university, is a big fan of comedy and is excited to see it live for the first time.

“I am trying to go to the Funny Bone in [Perrysburg] but I haven’t actually been to any live comedians yet,” said Terrill. “This will be my first taste of that whole adventure as far as live comedy is concerned.”

Although he has yet to attend a live performance, Terrill is a fan of stand-up comedy in general.

“I love stand-up comedy on Netflix or wherever I can find and I am always trying and looking up comedians to listen to,” said Terrill. “I definitely do have some favorite comedians in general, I do like dry comedy and situational comedy.”

There are still tickets available for the show and according to the University of Findlay’s webpage can be purchased at the MCPA box office whose phone number is 419-423-2787 or on their website at mcpa.org.

“I’m definitely excited,” said Terrill “I am excited for the whole experience to go there and hopefully make myself laugh harder than I have in a while with the friends that I am going with and enjoy the show.”
