Be prepared not to laugh at just one, two, but three performers at the University of Findlay’s 16th annual Comedy Jam. Entertainer Alexandra McHale will be emceeing the show, Mike Paramore will be the feature comedian, and Pete Lee will be the headliner.
Alexandra McHale made her network debut on NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” She’s also been seen on CBS’s “The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn,” Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend,” and “New Joke City with Robert Klein” on the Metro Channel. After her appearance at the prestigious Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, The Hollywood Reporter cited McHale as one to watch.
McHale grew up in Connecticut before relocating to New York City, where she became a lifetime member of the prestigious Actors’ Studio and studied with acting greats such as Paul Newman, Sally Field and Ellen Burstyn. She is a frequent commentator on VH1’s “I Love The 80’s,” “Supersecret TV Formulas” and “The 100 Most Cheesetastic Video Countdown.”
In addition to appearances on network television, McHale has headlined at over 300 colleges. She was voted 2002 and 2003 Female Entertainer of the Year by the readers of Campus Activities Magazine, was nominated in 2005, 2008, and 2009 for Female Entertainer of the Year, and was nominated as the 2009 Comedian of the Year and Performer of the Year by the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities.
Mike Paramore is the guy you fight to sit next to in a movie theatre, on a long car ride, or during a boring lecture. He has a natural ability to infuse everyday situations with energetic, uplifting humor. His natural ability to put you at ease is key to his personal brand of comedy. His smooth delivery and powerful punchlines make him a force in stand-up comedy.
Paramore has opened up for comedians Damon Wayans, “Cash Cab’s” Ben Baily, Jon Lovitz, and “Saturday Night Live’s” Jay Pharoah. In addition to performing at the 2010 Stellar Awards and being a part of the 2012 Just for Laughs Festival, he was a finalist in the World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas, the grand prize winner of the 2015 Cleveland Comedy Festival, and is a featured comedian on “Laughs TV Show” on FOX.
Also, as the senior artistic director of “Good Jokes Live! Comedy & Improv,” Mike brings comedy to the masses either through himself or the network of comedians he works with via Good Jokes Live.
Pete Lee might be the nicest person in New York City, but that’s because it’s impossible to sound aggressive with a Wisconsin accent. Pete was raised in Janesville, Wis. by divorced parents and a 19-inch television, which is probably why he pursued a career in entertainment.
Thanks to his highly rated Comedy Central Presents half hour special and appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” Pete has packed venues at over 500 colleges and universities, countless comedy clubs, and theaters across the country. Pete has also been a standout on NBC’s Last Comic Standing and played a doctor on the CBS soap opera “As the World Turns.”
Lee’s hit YouTube series titled “Pete Lee’s Internet Freak Show” attracted the attention of television executives. He was quickly hired to be a writer and cast member on FUSE TV’s “Video on Trial” and cast member on VH1’s “Best Week Ever.” Now, you can see Lee in his own Comedy Central Snapchat Series as well as every Friday Night on TruTV’s “Greatest Ever.”
Tickets are available at MCPA’s website and box office. One ticket is free for UF faculty, and staff, and students are free with a valid UF ID prior to the night of the show. The night of the show, all tickets at the door will be $15. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. and showtime is at 8:00 pm. There will be also be a meet and greet with the comedians after the show in the main atrium entrance of Marathon.
There will be a shuttle that will be transporting people to the show in front of the AMU starting at 6:45 pm. After 7:45 pm the shuttle will stop transporting people to the show after 7:45 pm and will be taking people back to the AMU after the show.
