With three games under their belt, the University of Findlay Football Team is currently 2-1. In transitioning to a new conference this year, the team’s goal is to win the entire the conference altogether.
For those unaware, this is the first season the Oilers have moved conference play from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) to the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC).
Anthony Kastelic, a junior linebacker explains how the team plans on accomplishing their goal of winning a conference championship title.
“In order to get to week 15, the National Championship, our team goal is to execute every day and get better,” Kastelic stated. “As we continue to work hard in the weight room and on the field, it will collectively help the team in the long run.”
Last year, the Oilers ended their conference play with a record of 6-5 and finished strong winning four of their five final games. The football team is picked third in inaugural season of G-MAC, with Hillsdale coming in second, and Ohio Dominican on top.
Defensive Back Aaron Ivory also explains the team’s goal for the season and how they will work to accomplish it.
“Our goal is to be GMAC champs this year and in order to do so we need to perfect our craft each day at practice and focus on each game and to go on rom there,” Ivory stated.
The Oilers will face Tuskegee at home this Saturday at 1 p.m. The Tuskegee Tigers will be traveling from Atlanta, Ga. and are also 2-1 making for a very competitive game.
