The University of Findlay softball team reached 10 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference wins before any other team thanks to a two-game sweep of Lake Erie College on Tuesday, April 5. The Oilers have now won 14 of their last 16 games.

In game one Findlay found themselves trailing 4-2 before a big fourth inning paved the way for the victory. The Oilers, aided by a pair of Storm errors in the inning, got a leadoff double from Lauren Trumpler, in addition to a trio of hits later in the inning on their way to a five run inning.

From that point Hailey Brian settled in on the mound and shut Lake Erie down. The Oilers got the 7-4 victory and Brian moved to 10-5 on the year.

Brooke Scherger became the story of game two. After going 1-3 with a triple in game one, she tallied four hits in four at bats in game two with a pair of doubles and another triple. Her three RBIs were more than enough for the Oilers.

Jenna Inman threw a shutout inning in the start before giving way to Chelsea McManaway who threw the final six innings, allowing only two runs.

The Oilers finished with six runs on 10 hits in a 6-2 win. McManaway improved to 13-2 on the year.

The Oilers will play Saturday, April 16 at home against Wayne State where they look to continue their dominance.
