The University of Findlay football team fell short in their game against #2 ranked Grand Valley State University with a score of 28-17 on Oct. 29 in Allendale, Michigan. The Lakers remain undefeated on the season while the Oilers fall to 4-5 in GLIAC (Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) play.

The Oilers had the Lakers on their heels as they took the lead in the third quarter with a score of 17-14 and kept that lead until the middle of the fourth quarter. Grand Valley State took a 21-17 lead with just over six minutes left in the game and followed that by scoring again with two minutes to play to create the 28-17 lead.

Junior Quarterback Rhys Gervais led the Oiler offense by completing 28-of-41 passes for 263 yards and two touchdowns. With his second touchdown pass, that gave him 57 for his career, tying the Findlay school record for touchdown passes in a career. He shares the record with Bo Hurley who threw for 57 touchdown passes during his career from 1994-97.

Junior wide receiver Jason Moore caught six passes for 117 yards while senior receiver Dylan Blunk eight catches for 49 yards and a touchdown.

Junior running backs Chauncey Bridges and Daouda Sylla ran for 98 yards and 57 yards respectively.

The Oilers will return home for their final home game of the season for their senior day game as they match up against Northwood University. The game is scheduled to begin at noon on Nov. 5 at Donnell Stadium. The Oilers will be looking to bounce back as they face the 2-7 Timberwolves. The UF Football team is now ranked 4th in the GLIAC South Division.
