The University of Findlay volleyball team finished 1-3 in Pensacola, Florida last weekend at the Hampton Inn Invitational.

“The three teams we lost to were all ranked top 25 in the country and everyone of our matches were extremely close with them,” said Wick Colchagoff, head coach of the women’s volleyball team.

Their three losses were to West Florida, Central Missouri, and Wheeling Jesuit.

The Lady Oilers did defeat Carson-Newman, though, 3-0 on Saturday, Sept. 3.

Despite the three losses, the Oilers’ coaching staff says that they are confident going into this season.

“After the weekend we compared our stats to those of other teams in the GLIAC and we are actually ahead in quite a few keys stats compared to last year’s team.”

The outside hitters Hannah Tong and Amanda Winner are looked at to keep up the good play and help the team.

“Attacking is very much a strength for us,” said Colchagoff.

The Oilers women volleyball team is home today at 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. They will be taking on Clarion for first game and Pitt.-Johnstown for the second. Home volleyball games are on campus in Croy Gymnasium.
