We only have two weeks left in the semester, and for me, it’s kind of hard to believe. It feels like just yesterday that I was first headed to my spring semester courses, and the start of the new school semester made me both excited and filled with dread. With being so far into the semester, though, I have to admit that I’m excited to see the light at the end of the tunnel. This semester, like every semester I’ve had at UF, has been filled with a lot of fun and a lot of stress, as I’m sure everyone can relate to. However, since we’re all getting to the point in the semester where all of us only want to sit on the couch and watch Netflix, it’s good to keep some extra help and resources in mind.

For me, the end of the second semester is the hardest, especially when my midterms consist of lengthy papers all due in the same week. UF has always offered a lot of resources to help students out at any point in the semester, but as we near finals week, there is an influx of students looking for help with both papers and end-of-year exams. This semester, I began working at the Writing Center as a tutor, and it has been a fantastic experience for both me as a writer and helping others with their writing. Though I am a tutor at the Writing Center, I always look for second opinions on my papers- getting another set of eyes helps me to fully state what I want to say in my paper, helps me with proofreading, and helps me figure out the citations I need to use. Since I’ve been working there, I’ve learned it’s an invaluable resource for students to come and get help, especially for final papers.

The Academic Support Center, located in the basement of Old Main, houses both the Writing Center and Tutoring Center, along with the Testing Center. There are so many opportunities to get help with your work, and it’s as easy as simply making an appointment and taking the time out of your day to meet with a tutor, for any subject, and talk about what you’d like help with. Before this semester, I never knew how much was really offered down at the ASC, but after my experience tutoring, it is something I am planning to use and take advantage of to make my papers the best they can be for finals.

With so many different tutors with multiple personalities and tutoring styles, every student is bound to find at least one tutor that they enjoy working with. The Academic Support Center provides a lot of help, and end of the year finals is something that almost everyone needs help with- it simply costs your time to meet with a tutor of any subject to work on whatever you need help with. So, I urge you to come visit the ASC for all you finals needs.
