Women’s Soccer wins home-opener 4-0

UF defeats Saint Joseph’s

The Lady Oilers soccer team started its season off on a high note after beating Saint Joseph College 4-0 at DeHaven Field on Sept. 4.

The Oilers got off to a quick start and didn’t look back.

Senior Kirsten Fruchey headed the ball to freshman teammate Marissa Swindell who placed the ball in the corner of the net to give the Oilers a 1-0 lead.

Later in the first half, senior Madison Brooker scored the next goal for the Oilers giving the team a 2-0 lead. The second goal came off of an assist from senior Katelyn Anderson.

In the second half, freshman Karis Dewalt earned her first assist of the year when senior captain Kate Prewitt scored a header off a corner kick.

The last Oiler goal came from senior Kendall Kwiatkowski. Kwiatkowski was assisted by Swindell.

Sophomore goalie Bre Parrish recorded four saves on the day for the Oilers.

Findlay out shot St. Joseph’s 17 to 6. UF had more fouls than its opponent, 7-6. But the Oilers were even with St. Joseph’s on corner kicks having three each.

The Oilers will be back in action on the road against Youngstown State on Sunday Sept. 13.
