The men’s and women’s tennis teams just finished up their fall seasons.

The Oilers women’s tennis team didn’t have the fall they were planning on. The Oilers finished 1-11 on the season.

The Oilers struggled in the month of September, but the month of October they finally found their first victory of the season. That victory came against Lake Superior State.

“When we played against Lake Superior State, we knew we had to win,” said senior Tijana Raicevic. “They didn’t have any wins on the season either so this was our chance to win a match.”

Findlay won three singles matches and two doubles competitions for the victory. Tijana Raicevic, Sheridan McLean, and Anna Foreman were all victorious on the singles matches for the Oilers.

Matina Matic and Viktoriya Shkola won their doubles match as well as Sheridan McLean and Tijana Raicevic.

“After finishing doubles play, we were up 2-1. We only needed three out of six singles to win. It came down to the last match with our number two. The third set was a tie breaker and she ended it with 8-6,” said Raicevic.

That would be the only victory Findlay would have on the women’s side for the fall season.

Even though they went 1-11, they did make some improvements during the season.

“We started off pretty bad, but we definitely made some improvements as the season went on. We lost a few close matches we could have won, but we’ll continue to work hard and improve for the upcoming spring season,” said Raicevic.

As the women finished up their season, the men also wrapped things up.

The Oilers men’s tennis team only had two matches for the fall season. The first of which took place in Allendale, MI.

The doubles A team of John Kidd and Carlos Blanco went 1-1 to lead the way for the Oilers. Kidd also did well in his singles play going 1-1 on the day as well.

The other match the Oilers played this fall was at home against Cedarville. The Oilers stung the Jackets winning 5-4.

John Kidd and Carlos Blanco were strong once again for Findlay. Both beat their opponents 6-4, 6-4.

The men will open up their spring season against Ferris State Saturday, March 19.

They will also travel to North Carolina before coming back to Findlay.

The women’s schedule is not confirmed yet because they will be traveling on spring break to either North Carolina or Florida. The only game set is against Akron on April 22.
