The Findlay Softball team was back in action this weekend when they had double headers against Wayne State and Saginaw Valley State on Friday and Saturday.

The Oilers would lose their first game to Wayne State 1-0 and then the second game would end the game in a tie.

After those games, the Oilers would travel up to Saginaw Valley State University on Saturday for another doubleheader. Findlay would split its double header with SVSU.

Findlay would lead most of the way in the first game against the Cardinals. They held a 3-0 lead heading into the final inning.

Morgan Arnold had a big game at the plate for Findlay finishing with a home run and a single.

Megan Turner had two singles in the game and Lauren Trumpler finished with a double. Abby Funk and Kelsey Borders both finished the game with a single, too.

Chelsea McManaway picked up the victory on the mound for the Oilers as she allowed two hits and struck out six batters in the seven-inning shutout. McManaway would improve to 6-4 on the year.

The Oilers would end up losing the second game on Saturday afternoon to SVSU 4-1.

Nicole Motuza would take the loss in the second game for the Oilers. She gave up seven hits and four runs in five innings. Bonnie Zappitelli pitched the final two innings giving up three hits.

Saginaw took a 3-0 lead through four innings. The Oilers would manage to get one run across the plate but they could not seem to get their bats to wake up and make a comeback.

Funk finished the game with a single and one run batted in while Jenna Huff added a single and one run scored.

The Oilers are 13-11-1 on the season. UF Softball will be back in action on Saturday, April 11 for a doubleheader at Northwood University.
