Once the initial excitement of the semester fades, the reality of homework and stress hits you hard. Everyone needs a place to turn to during times like these to grab a coffee or hang out with friends.

Several popular places in Findlay are George House Coffee & Tea, Fort Findlay Coffee & Doughnut Shoppe, and Coffee Amici. Even though these three businesses have the word “coffee” included in its name, each one is known for something different.

George House Coffee & Tea, located across from Old Main at 1041 N Main St, has a large selection of coffee and tea varieties as well as baked goods. Inside of the coffeehouse, customers are surrounded by bookshelves filled with used books as they enjoy their coffee or snack. George House is known for its artsy and relaxing atmosphere as well as its great view of campus. Within walking distance of UF, George House Coffee & Tea provides a large area for its customers with several tables and chairs as well as benches outside to sit on. If you are looking for space to work on a group project or chat with friends, this is it.

Located at 1016 Tiffin Ave, Fort Findlay Coffee & Doughnut Shoppe is known for its fresh bakery and unique coffee menu. Although Fort Findlay Coffee & Doughnut Shoppe is slightly further from campus, it’s definitely worth the traveling distance. With over 50 varieties of hand-cut doughnuts as well as bagels, muffins, and soups, this shop is frequented by many. Opening at 5 a.m. Monday through Sunday, this is a great breakfast option before heading to class.

Coffee Amici is a fine arts coffeehouse recognized for its dedication to gourmet caffeine products as well as great music. With the large amount of seating available, this place makes the perfect spot for working on homework. However, on the weekend this place can get a little loud. Every Friday from 8-10 p.m., Coffee Amici hosts open mic night which brings in many musicians from the local and regional area. Due to the location on 328 South Main Street, there are benches outside of the coffeehouse to sit on as well.

All three businesses have Facebook pages so you can check in to see what specials and updates each place has each week.

Whether you are drinking tea surrounded by books at George House, eating a doughnut from Fort Findlay on your way to class, or listening to music while drinking a gourmet Frozen Caramel Latte at Coffee Amici, these are great options for escaping the stressful reality of college. Keep these three places in mind throughout the year for times when you need to de-stress, I’m sure your taste buds will thank you.
